COUPLE COUNSELLING

Couples therapy works with couples who are experiencing relationship problems that are getting in the way of a healthy functioning relationship. In couples therapy, the focus is on the relationship rather than any one individual. However, some issues in a relationship stem from individual issues, and these are addressed as well within the context of the relationship.

FAMILY COUNSELLING

Family treatment typically involves meeting with the entire family or various members of the family together. This form of therapy is often recommended for families with children or teens who have diagnosed psychological problems.

CHILD COUNSELLING

Child counselling aims to help children and adolescents below the age of 18, who are experiencing mental health, concerns, and/or behavioral problems, including developmental challenges. The treatment integrates psychodynamic, developmental, trauma, social learning, and cognitive behavioral theories. The consultant will be using appropriate assessments to diagnose developmental and/or intellectual disabilities if necessary. Therapeutic sessions also include the child and parent or primary caregiver. The primary goal of child counselling and psychotherapy is to support and strengthen the relationship between a child and his or her caregiver as a vehicle for restoring the child's cognitive, behavioral, and social functioning.
